| Description: | The bundles hru_1244a to 1244d contain four songs and brief explanation by Ramda Gidusow. Ramda is a young man in his thirties, originally from the village of Palatari but living in Palizi since his childhood. He is an exception to the rule that traditional songs are to be sung only by older people. He is well known for his ability to sing all types of songs and recite stories. In these bundles he sings four traditional songs: 1244a is known as 'Sam-Humo Nugu', Lit. Daughter, Son-in-Law Song, sung by the parental family of a woman when she visits her parents with her husband. It is also sung during marriage ceremonies. 1244b is titled 'Ñebinim' Lit. a female member of the 'Ñebin' clans - Nimasow or Parisow. It is a flirty love song. 1244c is 'Ñetomiañ', a favourite mythological song of Hrusso Akas. It is a mythological song, recalling the story of the morning star. 1 244d is a love song, inviting the loved one to meet at various landmarks near Hrusso Aka villages. These songs are not complete recitals but shorter versions. Very few people can sing these songs today, especially those among Ramda's generation and younger. Therefore, although shorter versions, these recordings are precious as mythological and musical heritage of the Hrusso Akas. Recording details: Video: Redorded with Canon XA20, settings - Auto. | Married to Sujata Sidasow (of Yayung village), and the father of 2 children: Sanjay (M) and Sumi (F) Ramda is well-known for his knowledge of traditional songs and stories. Original village: Palatari, but moved to Palizi at the age of 5. | ||

Involved with Hrusso Aka orthography development and language support since 1999, having learned the language at Palizi while teaching. Currently doing a DPhil (PhD) in linguistics at the University of Oxford, UK (Thesis: A Grammar of Hrusso Aka). Founder and leader of the Hrusso Literature Team, formed in 2017. | ||
