Description:In this video, Grandpa Dorji Phub shows how to weave the traditional carrying bamboo basket which is very useful for agricultural purposes. He also demonstrates how and for what purposes they use it according to different sizes and styles. For example, some use for collecting fallen dry leaves while some use for collecting potato and some for distributing manure in the fields.
Wangchuk is a PhD researcher at the University of Essex. He is a PI, from Phonjikha and a native speaker of Nyenkha.
Yangchen is a student and lives in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, and employed as helper for the Nyenkha documentation projecy.
Ugyen works for the DDC office and employed as RA with Wangchuk Rinzin. He is a native of Tshangla and uses Dzongkha and English as the national language and international language, respectively.
Jamtsho is a Gup (local leader) of Phobji Gewog (council) and native speaker of Nyenkha. He is employed as a language consultant as well as regional host who selects speaker/language consultant, provide basic facilities (family host) and arrange all necessary things. The research team was really grateful to him for providing all necessary requirements for this ELDP project.
Dorji Phub is a Nyenkha speaker and lives at Phobjikha, Wangduephodrang, Bhutan. He is gifted with talented skill in weaving traditional carrying bamboo basket which is passed down from his great grand forefathers.
Wangchuk is a PhD researcher at the University of Essex. He is from Phonjikha who is a native speaker of Nyenkha.
