Description:The 6th Dalai Lama sang this song to his mother while she was pregnant with him, asking her not to cry or worry, and explaining that the selli and belli flowers will bloom some day. The second half of the recording appears to be a rendition of the well-known song where the 6th Dalai Lama describes himself taking the form of a crane (the singer calls the bird Tundung Karmo), but not flying farther than Lithang. This verse has been taken to show that Tsangyang Gyatso foresaw his own rebirth- the 7th Dalai Lama was born in far Eastern Tibet, near Lithang, in 1708. Please see accompanying field notes.
