| Description: | A semi-structured elicitation session in which Charlotte and Florance discuss word order using colour coded word cards (red = verb, blue = noun etc.). The cards were rearranged on the table to create sentences with different word orders which were then judged for their acceptability. In this recording, we built sentences with the transitive verb 'eat' in different voice forms (kuman 'AV.eat', nekuman 'AV.PFV.eat', kenen 'UV.IRR.eat' and kinan 'UV.PFV.eat'). Basic sentences were formed from the verb plus an actor (the pronouns uih '1SG.NOM' and kuh '1SG.GEN') and an undergoer (the noun bua' kaber 'pineapple'). There is some discussion of the contexts in which different word orders are used. In the second half of the recording, we discuss the position of other elements in clause, e.g. time adverbials (ngimalem 'yesterday'), adjuncts (luun asu' 'on the stool') and auxiliaries (.e.g. kereb 'able to' & pengeh 'already'). Finally, there is also discussion of word order using the IV verb form penekul 'used to spoon up' and the nouns tekul 'spoon' (instrument), kuh '1SG.GEN' (actor) and nuba' 'rice' (undergoer).
