Description: | England talks about mortuary rituals. He commences by talking about what will happen in the conclusion of the funeral that is currently in progress, and answers MC's questions about why people dance etc. He then goes on to talk about funerals in the old days, when the body was wrapped in paperbark, and other rites performed. Good content here. MC asks EB what clan the deceased person belongs to - EB answers Ngalkbon (language group?). He says this is a Jowunga clan - he goes on to describe his role as junggay 'ceremonial manager' - he has to watch everything and everybody, supervise the dancing, and singing. Eb continues to describe his role, noting that it's important that no-one fights at the funeral, it's part of the junggay's job to make sure no fighting happens. He then talks about how people used to do at funerals in the old days. Material could be sensitive Status: 11.3.2013 derived eaf created. | |
