Description:		JW01 (some confusion with French, hasn’t spoken Guernesiais for some time.) talks about: being happy to help out, finding it satisfying; going shopping with daughter, being grateful; late husband working at sea, then as a builder, working hard to raise family; Guernesiais (G), it’s teaching and what can be done to save it, in the schools, parents should speak it to children, school isn’t enough; linguistic variety in G; the Matron at Duchess of Kent having wanted her to speak to residents in G; can help in treatment of dementia; Lé Viaer Marchi, description, it has changed, it being cancelled previous year; G recordings, seeing appeal for speakers in the Press, coming forward to be recorded; comments on BBC Guernsey’s Guernsey French News, not always agreeing with reader’s interpretations; her late mother living in England, her G changed as she didn’t speak it much; holidays; week’s activities; grandchildren visiting, one who is one year old; where her children lives, which part of island; being fit and well for her age; there being more G when she was a child, yet many children couldn’t speak it; moving schools a lot; knowing HD01, being in a pantomime with him when younger; her cousins from King Mills (Goubert); other people from Kings Mill; other speakers of G, someone from England (Sherwood Forester) who married her mum’s cousin and learnt G and spoke it like a native, his mother-in-law insisting that he learn it; ormers, pickling them for Christmas; cost of things, but being prepared to pay if you want it, her mother spending money on good tea; returning evacuees seemed different, mixed experiences, good and bad; not all children being well treated today.
