| Description: | CTIMIT is a cellular-bandwidth adjunct to TIMIT Acoustic Phonetic Continuous Speech (LDC93S1). CTIMIT has been designed to provide a large phonetically-labeled database for use in the design and evaluation of speech processing systems operating in diverse, often hostile, cellular telephone environments. CTIMIT was collected by members of the Voice Communication Initiative (VCI) at Lockheed-Martin Sanders' Signal Processing Center of Technology (SPCOT) as part of internal R&D efforts, with additional sponsorship from the Wireless Communications Group in the company's Advanced Engineering and Technology (AE&T) Division. Like NTIMIT (LDC93S2), CTIMIT is based on the original TIMIT recordings, which were passed through a sample of actual telephone circuits -- cellular circuits in the case of CTIMIT. Thus, the original phonetic segmentation and labeling of TIMIT continue to be applicable to CTIMIT as well as NTIMIT. | |
