Description:The Panimagne, requesting for raining is an important ritual among Chintang people and is celebrated two days. It has series of worship and the worship in the forest called Patal is one of them. It is the worship in the forest , Patal on the occasion of the Panimagne. It is performed second day
It is one worship of Panimagne worship. It is performed in the forest called Patal where drums are played and people dance with playing the drums and singing a typical songs. This worship is performed in the permanent altar and priest worships and the wattongs (BBR and BhB) chant the munduma.
This is a chant in the ritual language used by Chintang ritual experts. It is different from ordinary language so a few knowledgeable elders canspeak and understand partly. Its basic character is binomial.
The collector (IR) got information and went there and recorded it. Dambar Bahadur(DBN) was priest in that worship , which is regular worship of the Chintang Debi. Chambak kancha (BBR) and Chambak Maila (BhB) chanted the mundum and they were requested to participate there by the priest.
He is member of the Tuprihang clan. Like his younger brother BBR he is a Chambak, i.e. a tribal shaman, who goes into trance during certain occasion.
Ichchha Purna is the RA for the study of ethnography of Chintang
He is only one priest in Jalpa debi, a holy goddess among east Nepal. It is shifted from generation to generation. It is believed that it is running in 17th generation.
