It is the worship of the Yupung. It is one of the important rituals during a year. It is worshipped once a year. It is also ancestral worship of Chintang Rai with chanting mundhum by a knowledgeable elder. | ||
This is a chant in the ritual language used by Chintang ritual experts. Its characterized by binomials which are different from ordinary language nouns. | ||
Collector (IR) was informed about the ritual and went there and recorded it. The householder called Lakh Man (LMR) was priest and worshipped. Bal Bahadur (BBS) was called to perform as a knowledgeable elder so he chanted the mundum for this worship. | ||
He belongs to Sangpang. Sanpang is not the proto-clan of Chintang. Sangpang came to Chintang from Simpani, a village of Khotang, where Sangpang Rai settled originally. In Chintang they came with their mother because mother belonged to the Chintang clan called Dalahang. He works as an knowledgeable elder among Chintang. He performs varieties of worship and chants the mundum. | ||
He is lawer by profession. He is not knoledgeable in ritual but performs as a priest in worshipping the god of house. He performs whatever the knowledgeable elder advise him. | ||
