| Description: | In this part of the workshop, the participants were asked to tell a story in Beaver. The contents of the stories are miscellaneous, containing historical and biographical events as well as narratives about places, and modern times. Here, a story is told in the Cree language. It deals with the exodus from Manitoba of the Cree during the Louis Riel Rebellion and subsequent migration to Moberly. Many of the Beaver speakers at least understand this neighbouring language, some also speak it. This story was first told by 058 in Cree, then retold in Beaver immediately by speaker 448 (For only the Beaver version, see: "ws-cree_exodus001_BV-version001"). | |
