Description:The signer watches 38 short clips on a computer screen one by one. After each movie, the computer screen goes black. The signer is supposed to explain what s/he has seen to the addressee. The addressee just listens and asks questions if s/he doesn't understand. The clips include caused motion events.
This corpus collects Turkish sign language TID data from children and also their parents. For this project, TID signers were recorded performing different tasks narratives of short picture stories/cartoon clips and engaging in free conversation. These recordings and their annotations are stored in this corpus.
The signer watches 38 short clips on computer screen one by one. After each movie, the computer screen goes black. The signer is supposed to explain what s/he has seen to the addressee. The addressee just listens and asks questions if s/he doesn't understand. In this session, the addressee does not see the screen. The clips include caused motion events.
Batu was born deaf. He has deaf parents. His elder sister is hearing and she is 16 years old. His grandparents from mother are deaf but his grandparents from father are hearing. His parents are working so he stays with his hearing grandparents during the weekdays. Only during weekends, he stays with his own family. He attends a preschool for the hearing and he gets speech thearpy at a rehabilitation center twice a week. He has a CI implimanted at the age of 4.
Sevinc is a native Deaf signer. She was born in 1974. She has both Deaf parents. She has finished a high school for the hearing and attened to Eskisehir Integreation Center for the Deaf, but she quitted it. She is an active member of the Deaf community. She knows some other sign languages.
Hukumran is a hearing person. He is a fluent signer. He prentended to be deaf in the experiments. He checked the order of tasks and gave instructions when necessary.
Beyza is a hearing person. She recorded the sessions and conducted the experiments. She mainly used TID and tried not to use speech.
