Description:This song is about the capture of chief Madhel Lang. Madhel is the chief of the Akuar section in the Aweeng district. The singer describes the situation as follows. In 1997 chief Madhel Lang was captured by Nuer militia. The news shocked everybody in the village. Chief Madhel was loved by his people and they were proud of him. Every one in the community from children to elders was praying to God to let their chief free. God answered their prayers and the chief was released by the orders of Riak Machar and Paulino Matip. These are big people among the Nuer, with high positions in government. Riak Machar was a member of the government of Sudan. The contents of the song are as follows. “I greet you Machotdit (this is the nickname of Madhel Lang). I shake your hand. We are happy to see you again, we will sleep well today, because we have seen you. God heard our prayer. Langdit - the father of Madhel – has died, but he left his son Madhel for us. We are proud of you, we greet you with a red flag, son of chief Lang Juk. When the news (of Madhel’s capture) was heard, women, men and children were crying that this was the end of them. No one will rule the people as Madhel did. We didn’t blame Karbino Kuanyin or Paulino Matip. It was done by Teem Rin Akech, they insult him for a dog. Oh our chief, nothing can happen to you, even if you fall in the fire or river nothing will happen to you. God will help you wherever you go. We thank Paulino, Riak Machar, Karbin Kuanyin and Arok Thon for releasing Madhel.”
