| Description: | The recordings of the subcorpus "Nimi lom. Myths, fairy tales, dancing-songs and accounts of rites and everyday activities" were made between 1979 and 2013 in Kosarek in the western area of the Mek language area in the eastern mountains of Papua. Fieldwork was funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (Forschungsstelle für Humanethologie), the Volkswagenstiftung, the Vereinte Evangelische Mission and the Gereja Kristen Injil di Tanah Papua. The original tape recordings have been digitized within the DoBes "Summits"-project, funded by the Volkswagenstiftung. The recordings were transcribed, translated, edited and annotated. The resulting texts may differ significantly from the audio recordings. Manuscripts written down between 1979 and 1997 are transcipts. Between 1997 and 2005 a good number of the recordings were transcribed with the help of Lewi Dibul, a native speaker of the Yale (Kosarek) language, whose transcripts differ from the audio recordings. All transcriptions were checked several times for grammar, style and content by Heeschen and Lewi Dibul, Musa Dibul, Silas and Yoel Dibul. | |
