Trapping started in October month. Her family's trapping was up near Tolsona. trapping was lynx, red fox, wolves, and wolverine for the skin. Beaver was snared through the ice. What kinds of food did you eat? Long time ago we eat lynx, it was good eat. what did you feed your dogs when up there? Fish. when you came down in March or April where did you go? we stay home. Little ways from Wood camp we would trap muskrat, hunt ducks in April/May. In spring, there was lots of ducks. never get duck eggs. we never eat that. How did you get muskrat? Way up we go and we shoot muskrat, up the lake. What did you use muskrat for? We eat it. Good eat, we put food like string beans in it and it taste good. That food up at the lake. Creek near Sophie's house is where they got muskrat. Skin was dried and sold. Made trim for moccasin too. Did you catch fish in the spring time? Grayling. Tsaas - hungry for tsaas - around here there is no more tsaas. What month did you dig for tsaas? Spring time when snow first gone and then after July. Put up for winter by putting in the ground. Cranberry xay gigi we put in the ground too. Birch bark put in the hole like paper box. How do you make c'encaes? Boil the berries and put flour in it. How did you fix the fish? Fry it and hang it up and make stink head (ne/lko/li) Pick berries in the summer and cook it. we never save berries just the cranberries. Now that we got freezer we save everything. .
