Description:		Prepared as part of the ALMA Project (African Language Materials Archive Project) of WARC (West African Research Center), sponsored by Unesco and hosted on the WEB as part of AODL (American Overseas Digital Library), sponsored by the Council of American Overseas Research Centers and the American Institute of Yemeni Studies. Originally published by the World Health Organization in 1992. This book explains HIV/AIDS and its transmission; a joint effort of the Uganda Government AIDS Program, UNICEF, and WHO. It provides an explanation of AIDS, its social and economic impact. It shows that eating, kissing, and holding hands do not lead to HIV/AIDS. It advises on how to help younger children understand. It covers the issues, fears, and concerns of people affected with HIV/AIDS and how to take care of people living with HIV/AIDS. It explains the roles of family heads and community leaders. Cette brochure donne des informations sur le VIH/SIDA et comment il est transmis. C'est le fruit d'un effort conjoint entre le programme du gouvernement ougandais, l'UNICEF, et l'OMS. Le livre est bien illustré et comporte un enseignement graduel du SIDA et de ses conséquences socio-économiques. Il montre que le fait de manger, de s'embrasser ou de se tenir la main n'est pas un vecteur de transmission. Il y existe également un guide sur la façon d'aider les jeunes gens à connaitre le SIDA. C'est aussi une discussion sur les problèmes complexes, les craintes et soucis des personnes affectées par le SIDA. Il contient des orientations sur la façon dont les personnes affectées doivent être traitées au sein de la communauté et les rÔles des chefs de famille, des communautés, des directeurs d'institutions, des chefs religieux et des politiciens dans la lutte contre le SIDA.
