Description:Copy of map made by an Indian [Yukon Delta place names map] Description: This map appears as an insert accompanying the Annual Report of the Governor of Alaska. A comparison of handwriting done by James Kari indicates that the map was likely map by Post, topographer to Josiah Spurr. The map is not referred to in the report which it accompanies. The map identifies 78 Yup'ik place names near the mouth of the Yukon River. Each location is keyed by a number and names are written in a key on the map. Additional river and mountain names are written directly next to the feature. Likely dates to 1898. Comments: Unpublished rare. Located by John Kawula in a government doc in Rasmuson library, submitted to ANLA and identified by James Kari. Originally printed on vellum paper. Very obscure, published in annual report. Citation: Annual reports of the Department of the Interior for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1900. Miscellaneous reports. Part II. Governors of territories, etc. Serial Set Vol. No. 4104, Session Vol. No .30. 56th Congress, 2nd Session. H.Doc. 5 pt. 3.2
