Title:Bulgarian WordNet
Abstract:The Bulgarian WordNet is a network of lexical-semantic relations, an electronic thesaurus with a structure modelled on that of the Princeton WordNet and those constructed in the EuroWordNet and BalkaNet project. Bulgarian WordNet describes meaning of a lexical unit by placing it within a network of semantic relations, such as hypernyny, meronymy, antonymy etc. It contains 38209 synsets, 83493 literals, 89242 relations (including 58095 semantic relations, 4172 extralinguistic relations).

Description:Multilingual Lexicons
The Bulgarian WordNet is a network of lexical-semantic relations, an electronic thesaurus with a structure modelled on that of the Princeton WordNet and those constructed in the EuroWordNet and BalkaNet project. Bulgarian WordNet describes meaning of a lexical unit by placing it within a network of semantic relations, such as hypernyny, meronymy, antonymy etc. The Bulgarian wordnet is a very complete and consistent lexical resource (in comparison, the literals in the Bulgarian wordnet are much greater in number than the word list in a standard spelling dictionary). The synonym sets from different languages are connected by means of inter-language equivalence relations, which are used as a basis for the development of the wordnet multilingual lexical-semantic network, the so-called global wordnet. The Bulgarian WordNet is developed by the Department for Computational Linguistics at the Institute for Bulgarian Language, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, initially within the framework of the BalkaNet project ?Multilingual Semantic Network for the Balkan Languages? (IST-2000-29388) and later on under the scope of the BulNet project, funded at the national level, and within the CESAR project ?Central and South-East European Resources?, part of META-NET. For more information about the BulNet project: http://dcl.bas.bg/BulNet/wordnet_en.html, and about the Department for Computational Linguistics: http://dcl.bas.bg. The Bulgarian WordNet is a language-internal structure, minimally containing: ? set of variants or synonyms making up the synset; ? part-of-speech; ? language-internal relations to other synsets; ? a unique-id linking the synset to the English Wordnet 3.0. Number of synsets = 38209 Number of literals = 83493 Number of relations = 89242 Number of semantic relations = 58095 Number of extralinguistic relations = 4172 The Bulgarian WordNet is distributed without: ? glosses, ? usage labels, ? morpho-syntactic properties, ? examples.
