Description:Weeping for sweetheart flute. There is a sadness story about the weeping for lover flute. A young man and his wife living in their bamboo house. His wife was pregnant, one night they slept on the bamboo floor inside their house. One night there was a rat hunter went to hunt the rats outside their house. The rat hunter caught sight of a rat running on the floor which sticking out outside the wall. He took his crossbow and shot at the rat. The arrow went clean through, however, flew into the house and his pregnant woman who was sleeping inside the house so that she died. Early in the morning the husband woke up from his sleep, he saw his wife lying dead on the floor. He climbed up to the roof of their house and cut off a piece of thin bamboo from under the roof and made a weeping for sweetheart flute. Then he blew his flute instead of weeping for his wife. Therefore Kammu call this flute weeping for lover flute. In September to October, the rice begins blomm, unmarried young men and unmarried young girls stay in the fields to guarding the family fields. Since at night there are wild pigs and bears use to come and eat the rice and other crops. At day time there are parakeets and munias come to eat rice. At night young men come to spend the night in one of the field houses. And young girls spend the night in other field house. After dinner some of the young played the weeping for sweetheart flutes and other young men played the idioglottic single reed flutes. People never play these flutes in the village or in the house. They played only in the field houses. In the field, at night it is quiet and people feel lonely, people played these instruments to make people feel happy. However, in the village there are noisy from people and domestics animals all the night. People talking and dogs barking every where.
