Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The story is about a blind woman and a thief. Once upon a time, there was a blind woman in a village. It was a crowded village. She was not born with blind eyes. She lost her eyesight when she became an adult. The villagers helped her a lot because they felt pity for her. They gave her some food. But she thought, "The villagers are helping me a lot, but I should work too. I will give a massage to people and earn some money." So, she walked to other villages and gave massages. In that way, she earned some money and kept them. On the other hand, there was a thief in that village. The chief and the villagers disliked him too. The chief announced him as a wanted person, "If you can catch him alive, you will be rewarded." The blind woman earned money just by massaging. She couldn't get much money. She kept her money in her underwear pocket. The thief thought of stealing her money. He saw an old mat and broken plates in her house. So, he thought, "She might not have any money." Then, he went back. Later, he heard the villagers saying, "That blind woman has a lot of money." On the other hand, the blind woman thought of catching the thief. She thought to herself, "Since that thief is wanted by the chief and other leaders, I will catch him and get the prize. He had come to my house once. I need to have a good idea to catch him." She went to the chief and said, "I will catch the thief. When I call you out loud, you come to me and arrest the thief." Then, she walked as she was singing, "If you want something, rob it. If you want something from blind people or steal something, you have to go down to the old well. If you want something and are strong enough, snatch or rob it." The thief heard her singing and thought, "I don't know how strong she is. I will not rob her. I will just go down to the well where she hides her money." Meanwhile, the blind woman thought, "When the thief comes tonight, should I stab him with a knife? Or should I beat him? He is stronger than me. I can't beat him up. I will sing a song, 'Find the money in the neighbours' pits if you want more and more.' Yes, I should sing like that." The thief heard her singing and thought, "Now, I will find the money she is hiding in the pit." He was happy with the thought. At night, he dug the pit to find the money. It turned out to be an old well. Then, the blind woman heard the sound and shouted, "The thief is here, inside the pit. Come and arrest him!" The police came there when they heard her shouting. They arrested the thief. The thief was angry and shouted, "Such a wicked woman! You sang the song that I could find the money in the pit! So, I came here and searched for it! But there was nothing! You get me into trouble." The blind woman said, "A stupid thief, you don't understand the real meaning of my song lyrics. If you want something, you should ask the owner to give it to you. If you steal it, you will fall into the pit. That means you will be in hell. You just can't understand what I mean. It's not my fault." Then, the thief was caught because of a clever blind woman. This is the end of the story. Transcription (La Ring) Myi nmu ai gumgai hte lagut la langai mi a lam. Moi da kahtawng langai mi kaw she masha law law nga ai kahtawng gaw rai re nga.
