Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there was a male dragon and a queen. They two fell in love. Her people thought there should be a king. But no one couldn't marry her because her lover dragon killed that man who married her. Even if the queen got married, they celebrated the wedding happily in the morning. And the dragon came at night and killed the groom. In the next morning, people heard the new King was dead. Whoever married the queen, that person died the next morning. Then, an orphan boy said to his mother, "Mom, I will be the King. I will marry to the queen." His mother said, "You are going to die then. Don't go." But he said, "It's okay, mom. Don't worry. I will try to be the King." And he went there. On that day, they celebrated the wedding happily in the royal compound. Everyone thought he would be dead in the next morning. At night, the orphan boy slept together with the queen. When they went to bed, the boy cut a banana trunk which had the same size as him and put it beside the queen in the bed. The queen didn't know that and thought to herself, "You are going to die tonight." After midnight, the boy couldn't sleep at all and put the banana trunk in the bed. He even put the blanket on it. And he stayed in the corner of the room. Around 1 or 2 a.m. in the morning, the dragon came into the room. It came through the door to kill the boy. At that time, the orphan was waiting in the corner of the door by holding spear because he wondered why every man who got married to the queen was dead. While he was waiting, the dragon came inside the room. When the dragon tried to kill the boy, he quickly thrust the dragon by spear. He thrust in the dragon's neck and mouth. The dragon felt so hurt and screamed. Its screaming was so loud that even the ground was shaking. It fell onto the ground and made a loud sound. It was dead. People were talking, "Last night, there came out a loud noise from the palace. The previous Kings died silently. But we could even hear screaming when this King is dead." The next morning, people didn't dare to check. They really wanted to know since they heard screaming from the royal compound. So, they decided to go there no matter what. When people went to the palace, they saw that there was a dead dragon. The queen was sad when the dragon died. She picked up the dragon's bones and kept as her precious treasure. And she used them as hairpins and wore on her hair knot. In the past, women in royal palace usually knotted their hair. The orphan boy also lived happily in the palace and ruled the country peacefully.
