Description:Translation (Htoi San) I am telling a story about a rat and a cat. A long time ago, people said rat meat was so delicious therefore people killed rats and ate their flesh. The animals caught and ate each other. The cat heard that rat meat was delicious, so it thought of trying it. Rats had bigger bodies, and cats were small. The rat was brilliant, whereas the cat was good at jumping. The cat wanted to catch rats and eat their meat, but it could not get them as the rats were bigger than it. The cat was intelligent and thought, "What should I do to eat the rat meat? I cannot eat such delicious meat even if I wait my whole life." One day the cat waited for the rat on the way and introduced itself. It talked to the rat, "My friend rat, let's talk. I want to tell you one thing." The rat responded, "Alright, tell me. What do you want to say?" The cat said, "You eat vegetables and food from people's paddy fields and farms. Then you shred and make them higgledy-piggledy and damage them while eating. Therefore people get angry so much." "As a result, people are going to eradicate all your humankind. Now I am telling you about this to warn you." The rat thought the cat told him with loving care, and it said, "If so, what should I do? What are we supposed to do? However, people cannot finish us." "This is because we are the kind of animals that bear babies after four or five months." "Although they try in many ways, they cannot annihilate us. Our mother rats can bear babies seven or eight times in their lives. Only after that, the mother rats die; otherwise, they cannot die easily." "The birthrate of our rat species is high, so it can even spread all over the world. Therefore, people cannot destroy us anyhow." Then the cat felt shy as the rat did not accept its warning. So it thought of another way to get the rat. The cat thought of a way and talked to the rat, "Hey, friend rat, I am going to tell you something." "I know you are many, and you can bear many young; you eat what people plant." "Although your species are many and people cannot annihilate you all, you will face difficulties of lacking food as the more you are and the more you eat." "Your species eats human's food and becomes very big. You all cannot eat as you are tired of eating them. Therefore you may need to prepare not to get in trouble from now on." The rat asked, "So how should we prepare for that?" The cat answered, "You should stay without eating sometimes or eat less. It would be best if you hid underground to avoid people's destruction. People want you to wipe out as you consume their food continuously." "If your kind increases and the food is not enough, you will be hungry. So you need to fast for two or three months. You need to stay in your ground pit." "You have to reduce your eating so your body will be smaller. Therefore, you will not face the lack of food problems if you eat less." "So you make your body slimmer and smaller. You live in the ground and don't need to find food all the time. Then make yourselves tinier." "If you don't go out and don't have the sunlight, you will be smaller, and you don't need to overeat." The rat believed what the cat said, so they stayed in their pit and did not go out to get sunlight. As a result, the rats became slimmer. The rats were getting smaller and smaller day by day. Their bodies were big before but slimmer, and their tails were also more petite. In the end, the rats were the food for cats. The rats were slimmer and smaller from that day onwards. Nowadays, cats can catch rats whenever they want. Therefore, I am telling this story that rats are food for cats.
