Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The story I'm going to tell is about a bad boy. A long time ago, there was a couple who loved each other so much. When the husband was young, he was the kind of person who loved to destroy things. When there was a beautiful clay jar, he broke it into pieces. And he hit the good pots in order to be dented. He intentionally broke the animals' legs too. He did many bad things when he was young. And he hunt the birds too. He spent his youth that way. Later, he got married and started a family. He had a boy as his first child. When the baby could walk, he died. And the man got his second son. At the time when the second son could walk, he died too. The third son also died when he could walk and speak. Then, the man got his first daughter. Soon after she could walk, she died too. The second daughter also died soon after she was able to walk. All of his children died. He was depressed and upset. He wondered why all of his children had died. He told his wife, "I think we will not have any children forever. We might not have any opportunity to be parents." In the past, people used to ask nat spirits for their fortunes. He went to the shaman to find out why his children had died. The shaman told him, "You are just paying back your debt. Don't be upset." He was shocked to hear that. He asked the shaman, "Why did you say that?" The shaman said, "When you were young, you used to destroy things. You always destroyed the good objects. You plucked the animals' fur and hair and broke their legs. That's why your children died one after another. Don't be upset, and don't mind it. Your children are paying your debt back instead of you. Deities inflict punishment on you. The child born after this unpleasant incident will look after you. Your next child will look after you." The shaman told him that. The man rethought what he had done when he was young. He thought, "I really did those bad things." Later, he and his wife went back home.
