Description:Translation (by Rita Seng Mai) I'm going to tell you about Num Nat (It's a kind of Nat, evil spirit which people worship till now). One day one naughty boy called her to go and carry reed thatch. When they went to carry them, they had to cross a river. At that moment, she drowned in a river. Then she struggled as much as she could. But she died and her body was eaten by fish. None of her friends saw that she was drowning because they didn't look behind while they were crossing the river. When they saw her, fish already ate her body. Then she became Num Nat. People worship Num Nat and gave offerings to her till now. We can't let children go alone to do something in the forest or somewhere. Then the children will be bewitched by Num Nat. And if there was a new baby born in a house or if they wanted to weave traditional sling baby carrier, that family needed to give offerings to Num Nat first. If not, the children will be cursed by Num Nat. We can't also put any food on the fireplace mantel. People who lived a long time ago usually told about Num Nat. She is worshipped till now.
