Description:Translation (by Rita Seng Mai) I'm going to tell you about the history of how Marip Ngang clan came into being in short. In our ancestor's time, there lived a man called Kumja Magam Marip in a zone between Mali Hka and Hkang Hka. We, Marip Kumja (a clan of Kachin ethnic group) used to live there. Our ancestor used to eat ragi (a plant like wheat) by husking in a big mortar and pestle. One man from Marip Kumja clan usually went hunting in a forest. When other people asked him what animal he got, he always answered that he got just Yu Chyit Yu Gang (means very small mouse) even though he got a deer. Whenever other people asked him, he answered the same. Then, other people named him 'N-gang' (under Marip clan of Kachin people) because he always said that he got just Yu Chyit Yu Gang even though he got other big animals. Since then, there is a clan called N-gang in Kachin people. Transcription (by Lu Awng) Ya ngai gaw ngai marip ngang rai wa ai lam labau hpe kadun ai hku mi hku tsun dan na.
