Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The story is about a cow and a lion. Once upon a time, there was a big lion in a forest. There was one animal which he couldn't bear the sight of. He couldn't bear the sight of a herd of cows. The lion wanted to eat those cows. They always stayed in group. They never stayed separately. So the lion couldn't get a chance to eat them. The lion was thinking, "How should I do to be able to eat those cows? " And he was a slicker. He drew up a plan. Then while the herd of cows were eating their food separately, he approached one of the cows slowly and quietly. He was walking like he was not going to prowl the cow. He said, "Hey! My friend cow, the other cows are saying something in your back. They said, 'You are greedy. You ate all good grass. You are so mean.' They are gossiping about you." The lion lied to the cow for the purpose of splitting the herd. The cow got so angry after hearing what the lion said. The cow thought to itself, "You all were gossiping about me like that. You all are so mean." The lion was happy as the cow was angry. Then the lion went to another cow which was eating grass at other place. And he told the same as before. He said to another cow, "Hey, the other cows were talking about you. They said that you were so mean and ate all the grass. You think only of you and are so greedy. And you always tell a lie." The lion told like that to other cows too. The cows thought to themselves, "You think I am greedy, so mean and want to eat all grass." The cows were disunited and suspected each other. They had the bad feeling for each other and never stayed in a group. They were split. The lion's plan was successful. In the past, the cows always stayed in groups and were united. Whenever he tried to catch them, they attacked him with their horns. So it was difficult for the lion to catch them. But now, his plan to make the cows split was succeeded. When the cow ate grass alone, the lion quickly bit and killed it. At that time, the cows from the other herds didn't come to rescue the lonely cow. They thought he deserved it since he told gossips about them. The lion kept catching and eating the cows one by one. Gradually, there was almost none. The cows had faced the lion's danger. They didn't know that it was just an incitement of the lion. Finally, there was no cow left. Transcription (Lu Awng) Dumsu hte ya na kalang gaw dumsu hpe hkanghkyi na lam na yaw.
