Description:Translation (Htoi Awng) Once upon a time, there was a widower in a village. He had one son with his first wife He got married again and got another child with his second wife. A few years later, he passed away. Then, only his second wife and two children left. At that time, a disease called measles spread in their village. Many villagers had died because of measles. So, she thought, "We have to run away from this village. If not, my children will die." She carried her step-son on her back and let her real child walk by holding her hand. And they left the village. She was such a kind-hearted woman. The measles disease knew about that and transformed into herself as a human. And she went to the widow. She asked her, "Where are you going?" The widow answered, "I am running away from my village because measles disease has spread. To protect my two children, I had to leave my village. I am on my way to another village." Then, the woman asked her again, "Why are you carrying the older and bigger child instead of carrying the younger one?" The widow said, "It's because he didn't have parents. His parents were dead. So, I'm afraid he might feel upset. And this younger child is my daughter. She has me. So, I let her walk." After hearing her answer, the measles thought, "Ummm, this woman is good-natured and kind-hearted." She said, "Now, you don't need to run away. Go back to your house. And cover the whole village with red thread. Then, the disease will disappear. The widow went back to her village and covered the whole village with red, white and black thread. Then, the villagers who were suffering measles completely recovered, and the disease disappeared too.
