Description:Translation (Htoi Awng) Long time ago, there was a family in a small village. Unfortunately, the mother died while she was giving birth. Actually, it was not her first time giving birth. She got many children. But, she died when she gave birth to another one. The father, the older brothers and sisters were upset and distressed too. Because they didn't know how to feed the infant. At that time, they heard a sound that a mother pig was feeding her piglets in a pigsty. Then, the father told his children, "Go and let your baby brother suck the breast milk of that pig." Really, the baby drank the milk. The mother pig was not angry and didn't refuse the baby. She let the baby drink her milk while she was feeding her piglets. Then, the baby grew up gradually. He reached the age when he could eat the other foods, not only milk. His family felt so grateful to the mother pig since she breastfed their baby. So, they decided not to kill that pig. They bred that pig till she died. When he was a teenager, his brothers and sisters told him, "When you were born, our mother had passed away. So, you had to drink the milk of the pig. Then, you have grown up like this." The pig was very old and thin, but they kept breeding her carefully although she could not give birth anymore and till she died. They also decided not to eat the pork anymore because they thought the pig as their mother. The pig fed their brother, so they were thankful for that. Now, there are some people who do not eat pork. Seem like that boy who drank the pig's milk was Chinese. My grandmother, was married to Lahpaw Tu, is also Chinese who does not eat pork. When I asked her why she doesn't eat pork, she said that she was the generation of the motherless child who had to take the pig's milk. So, she didn't eat pork. Nowadays, there is still some people who don't eat pork. It's because they are the generations of the boy who drank the pig's milk.
