Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there were seven merchants in a village. They were used to sleeping on their way somewhere in the forest. The place where they slept in the forest was a big house. There was plenty of delicious food for them. They had enough food and enough sleep there. The next morning, they continued their journey. They always took a rest there. One day, one merchant said to his friend, "I have a bad dream. Let's not sleep tonight." Then, his friend said, "Oh, we always sleep there. What are you worrying about? The house owner always offers us delicious food. Why shouldn't we sleep there? It's okay." He said, "But where is the house owner? We never meet him before! I don't want to sleep tonight." He continued asking his friend, "Will you sleep tonight?" Then, his friend said, "If you don't sleep, I won't too." Then, the seven merchants went into that house to take a rest. At midnight, a man appeared and brought seven coffins there. The two merchants who were staying alert saw him pulling seven coffins. They spoke quietly, "Let's run away when he is going out to take another coffin." They grabbed a chance and ran away. They were hiding on a tree. At that time, they heard the sound of the man putting their friends into the coffins. So, they secretly went into the house again and left two banana trunks with a blanket in their places. And they ran away. They were praying, "Oh Lord, save us." And they climbed up the tree and hid there the whole night. When it was dawn, they prayed, "Help us, Lord." Then, they climbed down the tree and continued their way back home. They walked past nine villages in a blink of an eye. When they arrived at the tenth village, it was already morning. The villagers asked them, "The man was trying to eat all of you! How did you two survive?" They replied, "We prayed to GOD to save us." They said, "We could run away from the most dangerous situation. That man was trying to kill all of us. However, we survive because of GOD." The villagers said, "There is no way that you could run away without the help of GOD. You have survived that dangerous situation. We will give you many valuable things." They gave them many pieces of jewellery and gold, but they didn't take those. They just went back to their village. When they arrived home, their families welcomed them even though they couldn't bring any goods. The family members were thankful that they were alive. So, they had a thankful ceremony to GOD. GOD bless righteous people. This is the end. Transcription (La Ring) Shawng de da hpaga la sanit gaw da hpaga ga hkawm ai le. Hpaga ga hkawm rai yang gaw shanhte gaw nam kaw sha yup ai da.
