Description:Translation (Htoi Awng) Once upon a time, there was a hunter in a village. He often went hunting at his designated place somewhere in the forest. He dug a hole there. And he mixed the meat with the salt and pee and put it in the hole. He also built a small camp on the tree and waited for the prey from there. At one full moon night, he saw the animals and the seven angels coming near his trap. A fawn was drinking water at the river near the trap. The hunter shot the fawn with his gun. Then, the angels were shocked and running away. One nat spirit got caught in the hunter's trap. The hunter climbed down from the tree and went nearer the angel. He took off the trap. He asked her, "Why are you coming to this lake?" The angel answered, "Because we are so happy at the full moon night. We always come here to swim and have fun." And she asked, "Why are you hunting at full moon night?" He said, "We always go hunting between 8 p.m. and 12 a.m. at full moon night because animals can't get the smell of humans during that time." After talking for a long time, the angels said goodbye to him. And they went back to their place. The hunter also returned his home. At the next full moon night, he went hunting again. He was waiting for the animals on the tree. The angels came to the river as before. Then, a deer was coming near his trap. At that time, he shot the deer while the angels were swimming in the river. The angles were shocked and went to check the deer. They asked the hunter, "Why do you kill the animals?" He answered, "They are food for us. I don't need to buy from the market if I hunt them." They had conversations longer than earlier. After that, the angels swam in the river happily and went back to their place. The hunter took the deer and went back home too. He shared almost all the meat with the neighbours. After sharing, he cooked the rest and ate it deliciously. He also shared curry with his neighbours. He drank alcohol with his meat curry. He was having so much fun. Later, he went hunting again. In the forest, he was bewitched by an evil nat spirit. He shot the angel by mistaking her as prey. He shot the angel by mistaking her as prey. He quickly climbed down from the tree and apologized to the angel, "I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened to me. I thought I shot a deer. I didn't mean to hurt you." He looked for some herbs and cured the angel. The other angels went back to their homes. The hunter told the angel who got shot, "Let's go to my house." The angel said, "I can't live together with a human." But a few minutes later, the angel agreed to follow the hunter. The hunter took the angel to his home. People couldn't see the angel. In their eyes, they saw the hunter was speaking alone. They thought he was crazy. The villagers said, "He is going crazy. Look! He is speaking alone." When the hunter and the angel reached home, he told her to eat food. The villagers thought the hunter was crazy because they could not see anyone. In their eyes, the hunter was eating alone and laughing alone. So, they were laughing at the hunter. They said, "He might be bewitched." The next day, the hunter went hunting in the forest again. He was waiting for the animals in his camp on the tree. He thought to himself, "Should I marry her or not? What should I do?" He was confused. He decided not to marry. He had made up his mind. On the other hand, the angel decided to marry the hunter because she liked him since she first met him. A few hours later, he came back from the forest. He did farming as well. The angel always cooked delicious meals for him and brought those to him while he was working on the farm. After he had cleared the weeds and grass on the farm, it was ready to grow vegetables on it. The hunter and his parents planted gingers and chillies on the farm. Then, the angel said to him, "I feel hot and get a bad smell when you are around me. We need to break up. I can't live together with you." Since that day, they were apart. The angels and nat spirits are afraid of the ginger and chillies because they have a strong smell. Since then, she never came back to him. Some nat spirits can be seen and can't be seen in human eyes. Nat spirits always try to bewitch humans. And there is a temptation by evil nat spirits since then. This is the end of the story. Transcription (Lu Awng) Moi shawng de da la langai mi gaw da jaugawng gawng sha ai da.
