Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) A long time ago, there were four bullies in a village. They did any kinds to bully the villagers. They were getting bored to bully their villagers. So, they decided to go to another village. On the way, they met an older man from that village where they were heading to. They said, "Hey, the old man! Let's talk about something." The old man said, "Okay." In fact, the old man had already heard about the four bullies. So, he agreed to talk with them. The four men said, "If you do not believe what we say, you will be our slave." The old man said, "Go ahead." One man said, "I really wanted to eat the fruits when I was young. So, I climbed the tree. I could leap for about a meter. Do you believe me?" The old man said, "Yes, I do." The second man said, "Before I was born, I came out from my mom's belly to drink the water. Then, I entered back into my mom's belly. Do you believe me?" The old man said that he believed. The third man said, "While I was going somewhere by ship, there was a flood and a big wave. Everyone on the ship died except me. I leaped only one time and could reach on land. Do you believe me?" The old man said, "Of course." The fourth man said, "When I was young, my family went somewhere. There was a bridge on our way. But, the bridge was broken before we could go back home. There was a vine on water. So, I carried my mother and father in my left and right hand and crossed that river. Do you believe me?" The old man said, "Of course! I believe you." They failed to bully the old man. Then, the old man said, "I believe everything you said. Now, I am going to tell you something. You have to believe me too." The four men had to agree him. He said, "There grew four cotton plants on my field. Each plant had one bud. I took those four blossoms to my house and made them my slaves. Those four slaves were you. Do you believe that?" If they said that they didn't believe him, they would have to be his slaves. Although they said that they believed him, the man would take them as his slaves. They couldn't give say anything and had to follow the man. So, there is a proverb in Kachin, "Manang shachyum tinang hkrum nga." (It means 'Every shoots at others and wounds himself') Transcription (Lu Awng) Moi shawng de e da ndai grai manang ni hpe sharu shatsang sha ai la 4 i nga ai da.
