Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) A long time ago, there was a man called N-gawn Wa. He went to the east to find new places. Then, a group of boys felt jealous of him and lied to him, "Your mom is dead." He thought, "My mom is dead, but there will be my dad who will arrange the funeral. Since I have a lot to do, I will not return home. I can have a stepmother too." He decided not to go back home. Then, the boys wondered, "Why didn't he return home yet?" They went to him again and lied to him. They told him, "Your dad is dead. Go back home." He thought, "This time, there will be no one who will arrange my dad's funeral. I have to go back home now." When he arrived home, he saw his parents were alive and not even sick. He felt angry at the boys and cursed at them. He made the flood exists in this world. In this era, there were two orphans in a village. They had a long drum used in Manau dance when their parents were alive. They only had a drum that their parents left for them. They had one chicken and one needle too. When there was a flood, they both went into that drum with lots of food. They were floating on the water. They didn't sink. It had already been a few days that they were in the drum. The elder brother wanted to know whether the water level had dropped, he put the needle down through the hole of the drum. It went right into the water. So, he thought the water had not gone down yet. A few hours later, he put another needle down there. But he could hear the sound of needle sinking into the water. Then, they didn't come out of the drum yet and stayed inside there. After a few hours, he put another one through the hole. But he heard the sound of the needle touching the rock. They put the chicken outside first. Soon, they heard chickens crowing. Then, they came out of the drum. There was no one outside. Since they had to rest, they were finding places where they could live in. Then, they met a man called Nhkut Hkun. In fact, the man was an evil nat. They asked him, "Grandpa, we don't have any place to live in. We would like to stay here with you. Can we?" The evil nat let them stay with him. Actually, he would like to eat them. Later, the boy and his sister noticed that something was not right. So, they ran away from him. Then, they reached another place. There lived a man called Tingra Shun. He was an evil nat too. They begged him, "Grandpa, help us. An evil nat called Nhkut Hkun is trying to eat us. So, help us escape from him." The man hid them on the joist above the fireplace. Later, Nhkut Hkun followed the siblings and reached that place. He got a human smell and asked Tingra Shun, "Have you seen the boy and the little girl?" Tingra Shun said, "No, I haven't seen anyone. No one walks past here." Then, Nhkut Hkun went back to its place without searching for them. But he thought, "There is nowhere, but only that place, that the siblings would hide." So, he went back to that place. He told Tingra Shun, "I can get the smell of human. I am sure that they are here. Take them out." When the boy and his sister heard that, they were scared out of their wits. But Tingra Shun said, "I don't see them. They didn't walk past here." Then, Nhkut Hkun went back to its place. He still hid them there because Nhkut Hkun might come back again. They had been hiding there for many years. Later, the little sister got pregnant. They had got a baby. Then, they lived in the house together. Their baby grew up too. While they were working on the farm, they asked Tingra Shun to look after their baby. One day, Tingra Shun killed the baby while the parents were at the farm. He made porridge with intestines. He minced the flesh and threw it at a place called 9 Numshe. And he put the pillow under the blanket and made it look like the baby. When the orphan siblings came back home, they asked him, "Grandpa, where is the baby?" He said, "The baby is still sleeping. Eat this porridge first." After having porridge, they asked him again, "Where is the baby?" He answered, "The baby is still sleeping." They went into the room and picked the baby up. There was just a pillow. The baby was not there. Then, they asked Tingra Shun, "Grandpa, where is our baby? What did you do to him?" Tingra Shun said, "If you want to see your baby, go to 9 Numshe." When they arrived there, they saw many children who looked like their baby. Then, the mother said, "My baby, come to me," and tried to carry one child. But the baby refused to be carried and shouted, "You ate my intestines!" Then, the father tried to call one child, "My baby, come to me." The baby shouted angrily, "You ate my intestines too!" The children drove them away. So, they had to run to Jan Ga (a Sun land). Nowadays, people worship Jan Hku Nat. Jan Hku Nats are those siblings who ran to the Sun land.
