Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The story I am going to tell you is about a wise judge. Once in a village, there was a wealthy man. One day, he wanted to travel and let an old man keep his gold cup and silver cup. After travelling for four or five months, he came back to his village. He went to the old man and asked him to give all of his valuable cups back. But the old man pretended as the wealthy man didn't give him anything. The rich man asked him many times, but the old man pretended as he didn't know anything about it. Then, they decided to take the judgement and went to the judge. The judge told the wealthy man, "It will be difficult for you since there is no witness. You didn't give the gold cup and the silver cup to him in front of the others. But don't worry. Let me think of an idea. Come back here tomorrow around this time. Come here around this time." That night, the judge called the old man whom the rich man gave the money to. He treated him a delicious meal. After having dinner, the judge told the old man, "You are a kind of person who always keeps your words and is righteous. I have to go somewhere tomorrow. So, I would like you to keep my money while I am away." They were talking about many things. And then the old man went back home. The next day, the wealthy man came to the judge again. The judge told him, "Go and ask the old man to give you your valuable cups. If he doesn't give you, tell him that you will tell me everything." Then, the wealthy man asked for his belongings again. But the old man didn't give him back. The rich man told him, "If you don't give me back, I will tell the judge about you." At that time, the old man thought, "Mmm, if he tells the judge about it, I will be in trouble. The judge will give me lots of money to keep. So, I will just give his gold and silver cups back to him. Compare to the judge's money, his cups are nothing. I will just con the judge's money." Then, he told the rich man, "Don't tell the judge. I will give you your gold. I totally forgot the fact that you gave me the gold. Now I remember. Here they are." The rich man was happy and told the judge that he got his gold back. After that, the old man came to the judge again. He told him, "My respected judge, I have been waiting for you the whole day because you told me that you will let me keep your money." Then, the judge said, "I heard that you tried to con the other person's money. So, I didn't come to you. I couldn't trust you. But let it be. Next time, don't ever do like that."
