Description:Translation (Htoi San) A long time ago, a former mother passed away. A father remarried a widow. The widow's child was younger. The child who lost his mother was bigger. The stepmother had a good heart. She carried the bigger child and held the younger child's hand. The epidemic which caused illness and disease was visiting around the town. When the epidemic saw them, she was amazed and said. "Oh my! What is that? Why does the small one walk, and do you carry the big one? The good-hearted mother replied, "I gave birth to the younger one. I am the mother." "The bigger one has only a father, and he doesn't have a mother. I married his father to look after him." "So I carry my husband's child." The epidemic gave her advice, "Aww, you are such a kindhearted woman. To prevent the illness, plant the pine trees at your doorways." Then she gave the pine trees to them. As the stepmother was a benevolent person, and she said, "It can't be only us to be healthy." "The people from the whole village must be healthy." So she planted the pine trees at the entrance of her village. Therefore the whole village was getting better. Her family was also getting better. When the epidemic came back, she asked her, "Why didn't you put the plants at your doorways and planted them at the village entrance?" She replied, "It can't be only us who are healthy." "Like these many village people, It can't be fine, if they all die." The epidemic said, "I have never seen and heard such a good-hearted person like you." "You are such a good and glorious mother."
