Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) This story is about the Sun princess and a poor orphan boy. Long, long ago, there lived a poor boy in a village. He worked hard to make ends meet. One day, he went swimming in the creek since he felt bored. He went swimming there around midday. When he was about to swim, he saw a beautiful and gorgeous lady who was showering. He thought, "There is no way she could be human. She might be the Sun princess. Then she might have fairy dress with wings which could make her fly. If I could find her dress and keep it, I could get her as my wife." So, he tried to find her dress. He was secretly finding her dress without making a sound. He saw that there was really the dress hiding safely between rocks. He planned to keep it in another place as soon as he saw it. Then, he acted like nothing happened. After the Sun princess had showered, she couldn't find her dress in the place where she hid. She didn't know what to do and she asked that boy, "Hello! Mr. I have lost my dress with wings. I put it over there. Have you seen who took it?" Then, he said, "My beautiful lady, I haven't seen who took it. And I just saw you now. I didn't know you were here. I just rested here for a while because I was tired. I need to walk for a long way to go back home." She was in a fix. So she told him, "Now, I have lost my dress with wings. I have lost a way to go back to my parents too. Can you take me to your home, please? Let me stay at your home. I will go back to my parents as soon as I find my wings." The boy agreed and took her to his poor cottage. They became friends and stayed happily together for a long time. And he really took care of her. He looked after her and supported her in everything she needed. As time went by, she fell in love with him and she didn't want to live apart from him. They told everything what had happened to them and tried not to have any secrets. He told her, "Do you know? I was the one who took your dress and I hid it somewhere else. I couldn't help. I am sorry. I love you so much. Do you want to live with me forever? If you want to live with me forever, I'd like to give your dress and wings back to you." "I love you so much too. But I don't know how my parents react. I'm not sure they will agree us or not. Let me go back to my place! I will ask for permission from my parents. Give me my dress back. I will take you there too. Let's go and ask for permission together!" she told him. They flew to the Sun land with her dress with wings. When the King of Sun saw them, the King said, "Who brought human here?" The King asked the boy, "Why did you come together with my daughter?" The boy replied politely, "My King, I came here with your daughter. I came to ask for permission because I love your daughter so much. Please, give me your daughter. Please, give permission." Then, the King of Sun said, "But you are human and my daughter is the Sun princess. How could you two be possible? Let's do like that. If you are wise and intelligent, you will get my daughter or not you won't get her. Can I test you?" The boy replied him, "Whatever you want me to do, I will do." The boy was determined as he loved the Sun princess so much. The King said, "I have got four daughters. I will put their hair together into a hole. You have to choose the correct one by looking at their hair. You won't get to see their faces. If you can choose hair of the princess you love, you will get her." As the Sun princess also loved him, she tried her best for him to be able to choose correctly. Then she applied some oil on her hair by herself. Her husband usually applied that oil on her hair while they were living on earth. As her hair was brighter and smoother than her sister's, the boy knew it and could choose her correctly. He got correct for the first round. Then the King thought to test him by using another way. The King said, "This time you have to choose by looking at their hands." The King ordered him to choose correct index finger. All four princesses' hands were white, long and beautiful. Their hands were similar. It was hard for him to choose the right index finger. The Sun princess knew that, so she applied some honey on her hand. At that moment, a honey bee came and rested on the hand which was applying honey. Then, the boy thought that it can't be usual. May be she showed some signatures because she wanted me to get right and she also loved me so much. So the boy chose the hand where a bee rested. He actually got it right. At last, the King gave his daughter to the boy by saying, "Like I said, if you get right, I will give you my daughter. Now take my daughter and live happily."
