| Description: | Recording provided to be deposited by Paak Orim, Viviran Village, Toma LLG. Artist: Saugas Band The band is from Barisari village in the Sauga area of Oro Province. Originally started as the Tosega string band in the 1980s before renaming to Saugas, representing the frontman's mother's tribe. Saugas Band was active from the early 1990s and often described as one of the Oro province’s key “oldies” acts. The group’s music, sounds and repertoire sit firmly in the PNG local/oldies idiom and unique to their regional identity. Led by frontman Allen Lee Erave (or Herave), the band is famous for hits like "Mangi Sasawa," "Sauga Mei," and "Sindaun Bagarap," with a legacy spanning decades in PNG music contributing to "Classic Oro Hits" or Golden Oldies of the Oro (Northern) Province.
