Description:Galina Kandakova tells how she helped her father prepare the necessary materials for a traditional ritual, the holgan, with which one asks the spirit of the environment for the well-being of one's loved ones, and she explains how to perform the ritual. The recording seems to have started a bit later than the narrative, there are no real introductory sentences. Recorded by Elena Kalinina, transcribed by Brigitte Pakendorf and transcription checked and Russian translation provided by Daria Nadeina in February 2017. Glossed by Brigitte Pakendorf, and questions clarified with Daria Nadeina. // In addition to the actual narrative, the bundle contains a short ad-hoc video (in Russian) taken during the translation session, in which Daria Nadeina shows how the loop is made on a holgan in order to hang it up on a tree. This was transcribed and translated into English by Daria Bikina. // Галина Ивановна Кандакова рассказывает, как она помогала отцу провести обряд "холган" для выздоровления своей матери, и объясняет, как проводится этот обряд. // В дополнение к основному рассказу мы включили в сессию кoрoткий видеофильм, снятый при работе над переводом. Дарья Ивановна Надеина показывает, как делается вязочка на холган, чтобы его повесить в дерево.
This project focuses on the documentation of Negidal, a highly moribund Northern Tungusic language spoken by at most a handful of individuals on the Amgun’ and Lower Amur rivers in the Russian Federation. The language comprises two dialects, Upper and Lower Negidal, of which the latter might already be extinct. The project will result primarily in an extensive corpus of interlinearized texts from the Upper dialect together with accompanying audio recordings.
