Description:Paul tells how there was once an old, lone betelnut tree in the village. One day, while only the women were in the village, the matriarch Myagram coaxed the tree into bending over so the women could get the betelnut by placing a sea shell at its base. The women then chewed it for the first time, while the men were away. They spat lots of red betelnut spit all over the village. Seeing the spit, the men decide to have two men hide the next day and watch the women coax the tree into bending down for them. The two men report back what they see and all the men fence the women in, and beat the ground so hard that all the betelnut from the tree falls and scatters, allowing more betelnut palms to grow, but only in the jungle. In order to get the betelnut to come back and grow in the village, the men beat their signal drums to coax the trees. One tree returns to the village, and that's the end. Audio duration [00:03:55]
