Description:This recording captures the closing ceremony of the resting period for the family of the deceased man. The session relates to the arrival of the coffin (bon20180210_01) and the burial (bon20180211_01). Over the previous week, several people in the immediate family have contact the deceased man's spirit. On this occasion they make public what they have found out. They do not only talk about the deceased man, but also about a number of other deaths that have occured over the last couple of years. Literally, the whole villages has gathered to hear what they have to say. Chairman Ronald Gidra opens and closes the meeting. After him, the magistrate from Drageli, Lexi Bujiri, speaks. The three men sitting in the middle of the square are Mexi Rumi, Toro Diri and his son Diri Toro. Later Kume Diri speaks out. Towards the end, there is heated discussion involving Bomas Dono, Charlie Dono, Ron Debe and Nichson Debe. The four represent another clan, who have lost their father (Wabie) three years ago. They want to know what was said about their father's death. The recording begin by calling out and naming the spirits that have been contacted. There is a little stick planted for each one. Then, each person who was contacted them comes forward and releases herself or himself of the magic by spraying water with some leaves and saying out "karia". Next, the three men announce that it was the sorcerer Mame who is behind the deaths. After some more words, Kume gets up and talks angrily. She says that she has been told everything and it was Mame. At this point, some men get up and beat up Mame, who flees in terror. After this, the people complain that this was not good. But they return to the procedure of revealing what has been told by the spirits. Bomas Dono, Charlie Dono, Ron Debe and Nichson Debe want to find out about their father's death from three years ago. The story ends with an announcement by the chairman Ronald. He says that there will be another mediation in the upcoming weeks because Mame did not get his say, but instead was beaten up. He also announces that he will take Mame first to Daru for a court hearing. He tolds in his hands a letter from Daru police asking him to bring Mame to Daru. As I find out later, Mame is brought before the police by Saba who is still in Daru and worried because his son Lendi is not getting better. recording equipment: CANON XA30 + Rode Videomic (.mp4), ZOOM H5 internal mic (_TrLR.wav), AKG headmounted mic (_TrH.wav), Sennheiser lapel mic (_TrS.wav), CANON Powershot G12 (.jpg)
