Description:This is a recording of Don Elpidio telling us the history of Tuzantán. He narrates how the town was founded and where the people came from. He refers to a plague of bats that attacked them in their first camp. They ran away from that first camp until they got to a place where a ceiba was planted. They settled down in this place and later on they named it Tuzantán. He also says that at the very beginning of the foundation, there was a belief that in order for them to live in peace, they needed to celebrate some rituals to venerate the mountain and those caves around the valley. This ritual required alcoholic drinks, food and incense. A offering that was required was the firstborn son of each family. The first born needed to be sacrificed in a cave, so that the people could have enough crops, and keep the plagues and any bad weather away from this place. Each time they had a sacrifice, they were given by the cave a pot full of money. Later on, some people did not want to sacrifice their firstborn son so they walked away to find another place to live with no sacrifices. One of these groups that ran away from Tuzantán was the one that founded Motozintla later on.

He says he is 89 years old. He is almost completely blind. He only sees the shadow of a person in a sunny day, but he can't distinguish who the person is. He can't also hear very well.
