| Description: | This is an exhibition catalog published to accompany an exhibition of old photographs put together in Šušnjevica and Žejane in the summer of 2012 as part of the Day of the Vlashki/Zheyanski language and the project Preservation of the Vlashki and Zheyanski language. The catalog includes 100 photographs, 50 related to life in Šušnjevica and the surrounding villages, 50 related to the life in Žejane. The catalog (like the exhibition) presents a selection of family photographs mostly obtained (in the form of scans) from our interviewees during the oral history/life story interviews. They are organized thematically into groups: Our village(s) in the past; Everyday jobs; Celebrations; In school; In the world. Collectively, they tell a story about the everyday life in these communities in the first several decades of the 20th century. The photographs come with extensive captions in Croatian and English based on the information told by the community members. | |
