Description:This is a narrative audio recording in which Timothy Numa tells a funny short story. In the story, a family sits down to eat a meal. Before they eat, they say a prayer to bless the food. During the prayer, when everyone is supposed to have their eyes closed, one of the children tries to steal food from his father's plate. His father is peaking, sees the child trying to steal food, and makes a noise at him to get him to stop. This happens again a second time, with the father making noise to reprimand the child. When the prayer is over, the mother says that the children can eat first, and that the father must eat last because he was making noises and disrupting the prayer. The recording was made at the residence of Wendy Maiki. Transcription, translation, and discussion of individual word glosses were done directly in ELAN.
