Contributor (recorder):Valentina Alfarano
Contributor (speaker):Michael Palu
Coverage:Solomon Islands
Date:2018-01-26
Description:This video contains a procedural text in which Michael Palu explains how he produces nelâ, the typical nose earrings made up of shells which give the name to the traditional dance of the island. The nelâ are made out of a shell called "black lip" and are worn in the pierced septum. The language name of this type of shell was unknown to Michael who is the last producer of nelâ in the whole village. The session involves some pictures of the tools used in the process.
Valentina Alfarano is the principal investigator of this project.
