Description:Betty tells a story from her father's place at Kavieng, about a baby whose mother threw him away in the water. Some singing in Kana language (from Kavieng). Recorded inside John Kris's haus boi, with Betty and Kristine Pat facing the road and the bush, with the beach behind them and the village to their left.
Koro is an Oceanic (Austronesian) language spoken by several hundred people on Manus and Los Negros islands, approximately 200 miles off the north coast of the Papua New Guinea mainland. This documentation consists primarily of recorded narratives and conversations in the Papitalai dialect, spoken in Papitalai, Riu Riu, and Naringel villages.
Married to John Kris Hinduwan. Grew up in Kavieng. Passed away in 2018.
