Description:The story of a single man who wishes that a parrot (aya) he sees eating in the forest would become a woman. The aya appears to him as a woman and they become a couple, the aya is made very welcome because she has extraordinary abilities to make their maize beer very sweet as she is an excellent chewer and only needs to chew a little maize to initiate fermentation in comparison to the amount that women must chew. The relationship turns sour however when the man wishes to pluck his aya wife's pubic hair which she rejects. He insists and she flies away but when she returns he is in a bad mood and rejects her. Soon, when he realises his error, he is repentant but the parrot woman has become a parrot again and rejects the man.
