yor_api_ft_01_20100608
Documenting oral genres in the Bolga dialect of Gurene (Northern Ghana)
Coverage:Ghana
Date:2010-06-08
Description:The chief invited people to come and help roof his in-laws' house, while Rabbit also came around to invite people to his own in-laws' house to help put the roof on. The chief sent word to warn him that he should stop his invitation otherwise he will kill him. Rabbit said there is no problem, he could work at his in-laws' house alone. But when the day came and everyone went to the chief's farm leaving Rabbit alone he took his guitar to lie under a thicket by the riverside where the women went to fetch water for mixing the mortar. The women who went to fetch the water all started dancing and forgot to fetch the water. So the people waited and the women never returned. They sent another group of women and they also went and started dancing. The chief decided to go himself and find out where all the women went and found himself dancing. Then Rabbit came out to apologise. This made the chief drive Rabbit away to stay in the forest.
