0303-20140228 - Reception in Ngun - Part 1 night - 1
Linguistic and ethnographic documentation aimed at identifying loci of cultural and linguistic reproduction in two communities speaking endangered Bantoid languages
Contributor:Most of the village of Ngun
Coverage:Cameroon
Date:2012-05-06
Description:This is the first in a series of video recordings made during the night celebrations following the ritual reception the Ngun villagers granted Pierpaolo Di Carlo. It was shot using a handheld camera operated by Mr. Christian Abanga. The video quality is poor being its audio its major contribution to this documentation. In this file one can hear the first part of a "mbolo" song some local women had composed to welcome the foreigner (who has a title in Ngun "ntaam NkuN" = "chief's messenger").
