Description:ENGLISH: A woman talks to her grandchild about her birth and her future. Although there is no response from the child (who is just an infant), the speech is structured as if it were a dialogue, having as target the infant and her mother (who is the daughter of the woman who talks). ----- PORTUGUÊS: Uma mulher fala com a netinha sobre seu nascimento e seu futuro. Embora não haja resposta da criança (que é apenas um bebê), a fala é estruturada como se fosse um diálogo, dirigida à bebezinha e a mãe dela (que é filha da mulher que fala).
The purpose of the project is to document Trumai, a genetically isolate language spoken in Brazil. The archive consists of a collection of texts in the language, plus other kinds of materials relative to the Trumai culture, such as photos, drawings, songs, educational materials, etc.
A woman talks to her grandchild. The mother of the baby is also present in this social context.

Speaker6 is a native speaker of Trumai. Her mother is Trumai, her father (who died when she was still a child) was Kamayurá. Speaker6 is married to a Waurá man, and has many kids. She is considered a good speaker of Trumai, has good knowledge about mythology and about medicinal plants. She is middle-aged.
Speaker7 is a native speaker of Trumai. Her mother is Trumai, her father is Kamayurá. She is married to a Kayabi man, and has a little daughter. She is a school teacher and is engaged in the educational program that is trying to revitalize the language. Speaker7 has worked in the production of educational materials; she teaches Trumai to her students.
Raquel is a Brazilian linguist. She has been working with the Trumai people since 1989. She has a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Rice University (Houston, Texas, U.S.A).
