The purpose of the project is to document Trumai, a genetically isolate language spoken in Brazil. The archive consists of a collection of texts in the language, plus other kinds of materials relative to the Trumai culture, such as photos, drawings, songs, educational materials, etc. | ||

The myth and songs are perfomed by a Trumai man (Speaker1), who died years ago. He was the main expert on traditional songs and chants of the Trumai group. | ||
Speaker1 was a native speaker of Trumai. He was considered the best storyteller of the Trumai people. He was also an expert in ritual chants, being very respected by other Xinguan groups. He had knowledge about medicinal plants and roots, and shamanism practices. He was old (above 70) when the died in 1995. | ||
Raquel is a Brazilian linguist. She has been working with the Trumai people since 1989. She has a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Rice University (Houston, Texas, U.S.A). | ||
