Description:		This story was recorded in Amedzofe at a meeting with 10 elderly people. The 10 people were divided into two groups and we talked with each group for an hour. In the first session Sammy interviewed the first five people about what has changed since they were young and what they think Amedzofe will be like in the future. In the second session, Sammy asked the other five people to tell their life stories and then asked if there were other stories or folk tales they could tell. This story was part of the second session in Amedzofe. Peace tells a story and there is some conversation about some proverbs. The recording of this story has been transcribed by Manfred and typed into ELAN, a toolbox file has been created from the ELAN file.
		The Avatime project aims to describe and document Avatime. The researchers involved in this project are Rebecca Defina and Saskia van Putten. The project included fieldwork in Ghana in 2008 and was completed in 2009. Outcomes of the project are: (1) audio and video recordings of different genres, of which 13,5 hours have been transcribed and annotated, (2) an Avatime-English wordlist, (3) grammar notes and (4) two Master's theses, one on the expression of motion in Avatime (Saskia van Putten) and one on aspect and mood in Avatime (Rebecca Defina).
		Peace tells a story that she has read somewhere. It is a story about a dog who is very greedy and steals meat. Then, when he crosses a river he sees himself in the water and thinks it is another dog with more meat in its mouth. He drops the meat to get the other dog's meat and then he has lost everything. Wisdom then translates the story into English. Then there is some talking between the people present and some proverbs and strange sentences are mentioned. This is also translated by Wisdom. Then there is some more conversation and some more proverbs are mentioned, again translated by Wisdom afterwards. There is one audio recording of this session, and two video recordings. The first video recording includes the story about the dog. The second video recording includes the first proverb telling. Translations are not included on the video recordings.
		The story is told in Avatime, Widsom translates it into English.
		Peace tells the story, Wisdom translates it into English. Mamavi, Yawa, C.K. and Awua contribute to the conversation about proverbs. Also present were Sammy, Rebecca, Saskia and Dagadu. The story about the dog has been transcribed and translated by Manfred.
		Awua is one of the people that we interviewed in Amedzofe on October 2, 2008. Awua was born in Amedzofe and has lived there all her life. She had ten children, 3 daughters and 7 sons, two of which have died. All live in Amedzofe. Her husband was a farmer and he sponsored the new E.P. training college by providing them with yams, so she was able to provide education for her children. She now depends on her children.
		C.K. is one of the elderly people that we interviewed in Amedzofe on October 2, 2008. C.K. is a clan leader in Amedzofe, he is also the Mankrado, or Krontehene, the chief landlord of the town and the person responsible for installing the nominated choice of the elders as the town chief.
		Mamavi is one of the elderly people that we interviewed in Amedzofe on October 2, 2008. Mamavi was born in Amedzofe. She was able to go to kindergarten, but then she fell sick and so did no more schooling. She was married and had two children who have both died. She now supports herself by dying and selling clothes and farming.
		Manfred Apati is an old man (65+) living in Fume. He is a member of the language committee founded by the GILLBT (SIL) group. He has followed a few linguistics / translation courses with GILLBT. He writes Avatime very well and has independently transcribed and translated many recordings for us.
		Peace is one of the people that we interviewed in Amedzofe on October 2, 2008. Peace was born in Amedzofe and education came to the town during her childhood, so she started school. Then her mother died, so she had to quit school and help her father. Then she went to Accra to further her education. She reached middle school level. She then worked to help her younger brothers and sisters. She was married at the E.P. church in Amedzofe at 31. She had six children, one set of twins, one of her sons is a missionary, only two of her children are still alive. Her husband has divorced her.
		Wisdom was our contact person in the village Amedzofe and organized a gathering with a group of elders for us. He grew up in Amedzofe and has spent 11 years travelling through other African countries as a missionary. He has now trained as a priest.
		Yawa is one of the elderly people that we interviewed in Amedzofe on October 2, 2008. Yawa was born in Amedzofe. She doesn't know her birth date. She thinks she is around 80 or 90. She had no formal education. She married an Amedzofe man and they went to Bueme. She has six children who are still living; eight of her children are dead. All her children were educated. One of her sons is one of the chiefs of the Kokonipolo clan.
		The recording was made using a Marantz PMD flash recorder. The recording is mono, 16 bit and 48 kHz. This audio recording includes the English translation.
		The recording was made using a JVC Everio digital video camera. The file is saved in MPEG2 format with 3400 kbps video encoding rate and 256 kbps audio encoding rate. The aspect ratio is 4:3 and the size of the video is 352 x 576. It is recorded in PAL format. This video recording includes the first discussion about proverbs, without English translation.
		The recording was made using a JVC Everio digital video camera. The file is saved in MPEG2 format with 3400 kbps video encoding rate and 256 kbps audio encoding rate.
