Yellow House in Minjilang.
Description:Joy Williams conducts an interview with Ilijili Lamilami in Iwaidja asking her about the traditional food preparation and cooking processes of several cheeky yam types such as kurldi, kanirr ijubalij, miyulum, mayarrany, artburrhij, and mayubal, and of a few shellfish species such as ararrnarn, arrayi, kalanyun, yurngku. In this context of obtaining, preparing and cooking traditional bushfood, the informants also talk about yurrkbili (mangrove worms) which people used to eat in the old days, as well as lurrkala, a native cashew nut, which causes swellings, rashes and irritations if not prepared and cooked carefully. The informant mentions the use of "iwijiwij", a bone needle, which allowed people to open and eat the roasted nut without touching it.
